Land Clearing
What land clearing covers here
Most clearing in the mountains around Asheville is not flat pasture. It is a wooded lot on a slope, a homesite that has grown back in, a drive that needs its corridor opened, or acreage where the view is gone behind twenty years of growth. The work is taking out what you do not want — trees, brush, briars, stumps and root balls — and leaving the ground ready for whatever comes next.

What it includes
What the job covers
- Lot and homesite clearing
- Brush and overgrowth removal
- Selective clearing — keep the trees you want
- Stump and root ball removal
- Clearing for driveways and access
- Debris mulched or hauled off
Clearing that leaves usable ground
Clearing is usually step one. Once the growth is off, the ground can be graded, a pad can be cut, a drive can go in, or the slope can be stabilised before the rain finds it. Because the same crew does the grading and site prep and the erosion control, a cleared lot is not left bare and washing.
Mulch it, haul it, or both
Some ground is best cleared by forestry mulching, which grinds the brush and small trees where they stand and leaves the mulch on the soil. Some needs everything pulled, stumps and all, and hauled away. Most jobs are a mix, and which way it goes is agreed at the estimate.

How much does it cost to clear land around Asheville?
It depends on how thick the growth is, the size of the trees, the slope, how the machine gets in, and whether the material is mulched on site or hauled away. A price per acre on the internet does not account for any of that, which is why the estimate is free and done on the ground. See what moves the cost of land clearing in Western NC.
Do I need a permit to clear land in Buncombe County?
Small clearing on a private lot often needs nothing, but disturbing larger areas, working near streams or on steep slopes can trigger local erosion and sedimentation rules. Check with the county before work starts on a big site; Ben will tell you at the estimate if the job looks like it will need one.
Can you clear around trees I want to keep?
Yes. Walk the property with Ben at the estimate, point out what stays, and it gets marked before anything is cut.
Do you remove stumps?
Yes. Stumps and root balls can be pulled and hauled, or ground and mulched where they sit, depending on what the ground is being cleared for.

Forestry Mulching
Brush, briars, scrub and small trees ground up where they stand, with the mulch left on the ground to hold the soil.
ViewServiceGrading & Site Prep
Pads cut level, slopes shaped, and ground graded so the water leaves the site instead of running through the house.
ViewServiceDriveway Installation & Repair
New gravel drives cut in and worn ones rebuilt, graded and crowned so the rain runs off instead of down the middle.
ViewServiceExcavation
Foundations, trenches, utility lines, root balls and rock — dug to the right depth and backfilled so the ground settles once.
ViewServiceErosion Control
Slopes stabilised, banks armoured and water redirected so the next heavy rain does not take the yard, the drive or the creek bank with it.
ViewServiceRetaining Walls
Block retaining walls built on a real base, with drain pipe and stone behind them, so the slope they hold stays held.
ViewServiceDemolition
Structures torn down, debris loaded and hauled, and the site left clear and graded instead of a pile of rubble.

Tank holes, drain field lines and the grading around them, dug to the plan so the system sits right and drains the way it should.
